German School Brooklyn is the first German international school in New York City, and offers a progressive, well-rounded, bilingual education to a diverse community of learners from Kindergarten-5th grade. Located in the heart of Brooklyn, we give our students the opportunity to develop their personalities, social/emotional skills, and unique interests along with their academic pursuits in a caring international environment. Our work to support each child’s development is based on strong collaboration among teachers, students, and families, in an effort to nurture community oriented, globally-minded learners. GSB will grow by one grade per year, and will ultimately offer education from K-12. GSB plans to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) in German and English as the final diploma. Our main subjects are taught in English and German, and Spanish is introduced as a third language starting in Grade 3. GSB offers visual art, music, dance, and swimming in the weekly program for all students. After school electives include tennis, soccer, capoeira, chess, musical theater, and hip hop dance. GSB offers year-round programming, and provides care from 8am-6pm. All students, even those without prior knowledge of German or English, are welcome to apply for admission to the lower grades.
